Fla.Tech professor turns waves into energy

MELBOURNE — Lee Marcum's eight-foot-tall aluminum wings soon will fan back and forth along the sandy ocean floor, as waves wallop them with enough force to power a few hundred homes.

The local inventor hopes the first dry run of his prototype "Wing Wave" generator off Fort Pierce shows the wings' potential as viable renewable energy that spares oceanfront views, lessens pollution and avoids sea turtle and right whale run-ins....
