Global-warming data flawed

For many years, thousands of scientists and other technical people have stated that humans do not cause global warming. Nature does.

The official record of temperatures in the U.S. comes from a network of 1,221 climate-monitoring stations overseen by the National Weather Service. Anthony Watts, a 25-year meteorology veteran, recruited a team of 650 volunteers to inspect and photograph more than 860 of these stations. They were shocked to find that 89 percent of the stations failed to meet the requirement that stations must be 100 feet or more away from artificial heating, radiating, and reflecting heat sources.

Worse, they found major gaps in the data record that were filled in with data from nearby sites. Their conclusion: The U.S. temperature record is unreliable and should not be used to promote unsubstantiated global-warming theories. More information: www.surfacestations.org.
