Whom Can We Trust on Climate Change?

Regarding Harold Meyerson's July 15 op-ed, "Whiz Kids, Wall Street Division":

We have recently been reminded of how the analysis accomplished by Robert McNamara's "whiz kids" when he was defense secretary failed to provide useful guidance for waging the Vietnam war.

And we have also recently seen how the analysis accomplished by mathematicians failed to provide adequate guidance for the implementation of credit-default swaps and other unsuccessful financial products.

What makes us think that the analysis accomplished by the climatologists is providing the right guidance for handling the global warming "crisis"?
