News Viewpoint: Global warming is a giant scam

Former Vice President Al Gore says the science is settled and refuses to debate anyone about global warming. Of course he can't debate anyone on the issue, because he will be exposed for the charlatan that he is. The Nobel Peace Prize and the Oscar was bestowed upon him by his liberal cronies for his movie, "An Inconvenient Truth."

This is the same movie that is shown to our school children and presented as gospel in order to indoctrinate them into the global warming camp. It is also the same movie British High Court Judge, Mr. Justice Barton ruled contained gross exaggerations and incorrect information and could not be shown to students without an opposite point of view or a disclaimer.

Al Gore also dismisses the 31,000 scientists from around the world who signed a petition rejecting the global warming alarmism. Mr. Gore's crony in this scam is Dr. James Hansen of NASA. This is the same man who 30 years ago said the earth was cooling and we were headed for another ice age!

Global warming is nothing more than a grand hoax, designed by the environmental groups (the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Environmental Defense Fund are the largest with over $173 million in annual revenues and over $275 million in assets) to scare the world into voluntarily giving up fossil fuels and to steal wealth from the most prosperous nation on earth and redistribute it to those of their choosing.

These groups have a huge influence in Washington, D.C. They give lip service to "clean energy," but block all efforts by this nation to retrieve its own natural resources. They block all efforts to drill for gas and oil. They hate coal. They block access to federal lands for drilling. They oppose the importation of tar sand oil from Canada and they are opposed to the extraction of shale oil here in the United StatesThey prevent us from building any new gas refineries and they are even opposed to nuclear power, which releases zero carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
They make and keep us dependent on foreign oil, while trumpeting "green energy" sources like wind and solar power. But when a wind farm was proposed for an off-shore site at Hyannis Port, Cape Cod, near the Kennedy compound, it was opposed by none other than environmentalist extraordinaire Robert Kennedy Jr. I guess wind power is great, but just not in his back yard.

The environmental groups have also opposed or held up in court several large-scale solar farms proposed for our western deserts because of their concerns for the affected wildlife. So in other words, they claim to be for "clean energy," but in reality, they are for no energy at all.

Currently, we derive about 1 percent of our energy from wind and solar power. Both forms of energy are highly inefficient and depend heavily on taxpayer subsidies. A megawatt hour of wind power is now subsidized at $23.37, while solar power is subsidized at $24.34. Compare this to coal at 44 cents and natural gas at 25 cents.

The official White House estimate for the initial roll out of the cap and trade system is $646 billion dollars over 8 years. But word leaked out from a meeting between Senate staff and the deputy director of the White House National Economic Council, Jason Furman, who stated that the true cost of the cap and trade system would be two to three times the initial projections. The Dow Jones reports that five people at this meeting confirmed his statements.

If this is right, then the true costs will be in the trillions, between $1.3 and $1.9 trillion dollars. No company is going to absorb these cost and they will be passed on to the consumer, to the tune of roughly $3,100 dollars per year. If people would have listened to Obama during his run for the presidency, he told us, "Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket ... whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations.

That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers." He also said, "If they want to build coal-fired power plants they can, but the cost to do so will bankrupt them."

This whole cap and trade system is nothing but a scam, designed to pull money literally out of thin air. The government can then offset the costs for Universal Health Care, college tuition for all, pre-kindergarten, welfare and all of the other social programs which are designed to enslave another sector of society and make them dependent on the liberals for their very existence. The liberals know it's a scam themselves.

On April 17 of this year, Moveon.org's Adam Ruben sent out a fund raising e-mail which stated, "If Republicans convince voters that clean energy legislation amounts to a new tax, Obama's plan is toast." They are trying to disguise their true agenda. This is why they have stopped using the term "global warming" and now call it "climate change." They now call it climate change, because the earth has in fact been cooling for the last 10 years and this past winter was one of the worst on record. People are becoming very suspicious of their message and they know that their movement is losing support.

As you become poorer, just remember, Al Gore's net worth in 2001 was estimated to be between $1 and 2 million dollars. Today, his net worth is over $100 million dollars. Of course he made some of this money from his film, book deals and speaking engagements, but the majority of this money was made through his private equity firm, Generation Investment Management. He is heavily invested in "green" corporations and technologies and he is also a large purchaser of "carbon credits." He and all of his political cronies are set to reap a windfall from this legislation, all while they burn more fossil fuel in one day than most of us burn in one year.

This cap and trade system should be called a cap and tax scheme, because that is all it is. A new way to scare you out of more of your hard-earned money. Humans contribute less than 4 percent of the total volume of carbon dioxide, which itself, makes up just 0.038 percent of the atmosphere.

On April 1 of this year, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency had the authority to regulate the emissions of carbon dioxide from automobiles. The head of the EPA, Carol Browner, wasted no time deciding that the EPA would soon declare carbon dioxide a danger to the public, which clears the way for regulations and mandatory reductions in the emission of this gas. For those who do not know Ms. Browner, she was one of 14 members who sat on the Socialist International's commission for a Sustainable World Society. This group calls for "global governance" and believes rich countries must shrink their economies to address climate change.

Ms. Browner was tapped by President Obama to head the EPA in early January of this year and her name was removed several days later from the Socialist International Web site. I thought Obama wanted transparency in his administration? Are they afraid the public would reject his pick because of her socialist ties?

This cap and trade bill is currently in committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. It is known as the Waxman-Markey bill. This bill is 946 pages long. I wonder how many of our representatives will read this one? Probably the same number of our elected representatives that read the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act before signing it into law, which was a grand total of "zero." Even they know this scheme will cause a massive loss of jobs. Buried deep in the bill is what the group calls a "Response Guide for Mass Unemployment," giving three years of salary and health insurance, plus job training and relocation costs, to displaced workers.

This scheme is projected to reduce our gross domestic product by over 10 percent in 50 years, and according to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, gasoline prices could rise by nearly 30 percent and electricity prices by 55 percent by 2015. This is nothing more than the largest tax hike in American history. I hope everyone who reads this piece will contact their representatives in Washington and tell them in no uncertain terms that they will lose your vote if they sponsor this legislation.

This president and this administration has a radical agenda and they are in a big hurry to get it all passed before we catch on. As any scientist/chemist/pharmacist will tell you, "Everything is a poison -- it's just in the dosage". Well, if this administration thinks the air that we exhale is a poison, then I think this administration is a "poison," and if they up the dosage anymore, they are going to kill our economy and prosperity. I am offering this warning: We better catch on fast or it will be too late sooner than you think.
