The increase in carbon dioxide emissions is good news since it corresponds to an increase in economic activity and affluence during this time period. Many people believe the hypothesis that emission of carbon dioxide by human industrial activity harms the environment. Contrary to press and United Nations reports, this hypothesis is unproven. We should be glad of the increase in carbon dioxide emissions because of what it means economically. At the same time we should repudiate the scorn of global warming fanatics.
